Manifesto
Quentin Simon’s photographic world is a museum of light. First because it is all about muses, but also about sun. Through his photographs, the bodies and the sceneries are draped into a glow that evolve all year round, but always remind us of summer holidays. The holidays we want to live forever and that never stop, the ones we are dreaming about once locked up in the grayness of the city.
The photographs are immersed into a light sometimes Mediterranean like the summers of his childhood, sometimes Parisian. The four seasons’ tales go by through the pictures, and make us feel the nostalgia of a youth yet just started.
Quentin Simon prefers analog to digital, film’s look being closer to his natural and warm aesthetic. The practice is – according to him – more real, more spontaneous. Like a visual conversation between his muses and him. Being surrounded by strong feminine figures all his childhood, he likes to capture with benevolence and delicacy the uniqueness of the models he shoots. The bodies are sculptural but at the same time so sensitive.
As the stolen moments go by, we dive into the light of his photographs like into the salty water of a hidden cove, with the vague feeling of going out of a summer movie : more free, lighter, and the skin a little bit more tanned.
